Circo Magico Modelo

For over 40 years, photographer Macduff Everton has been documenting the Maya of Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula. In his book, The Modern Maya, he tells the story of a people and a culture in transition. In the early 1970′s Macduff and his close friend Charles Demangate became members of Circo Magico Modelo, a traveling circus that toured the towns and villages of the region. This piece was produces in August, 2009 at The Center for Documentary Studies at Duke. Without further adieu– tales from Circo Magico Modelo.
